C-Doublers

When BBO, KD*P and LiIO3 crystals are used for frequency-doubling low or medium power lasers, focused laser beams have to be normally used to increase the input power density. Due to their large walk-off angles and small angular acceptance, low conversion efficiencies, poor output beam quality (elliptical beam) and crystal damage frequently occurred. Our C-Doublers are specifically designed to solve these problems!

Fig-38.GIF (6068 bytes)The C-Doubler is constructed by specially designed lens and collimator systems to overcome the problems caused by small acceptance angle and large walk-off angle. The fine mechanic systems are also specifically designed because of very small acceptance angle of the crystal. The systems guarantee not only high conversion efficiency but also good output beam quality. The output beam is nearly in TEM00 mode if the input is in TEM00 mode.

Fig-39.GIF (5384 bytes)Using C-Doubler designed for doubling 532 nm ® 266 nm, we obtained more than 40% conversion efficiency at about 10MW/cm2 input power density (see Fig. 39). This C-Doubler is an efficient and compact quadrupler for Q-switched or mode-locked Nd:YAG and Nd:YLF lasers pumped by lamps or laser diodes.

C-Doublers can also be designed and used for frequency-doubling Nd:YAG, Nd:YLF, Cooper Vapor, Argon Ion, Dye, Ti:Sapphire and Alexandrite lasers. For the best design of your C-Doublers, simply tell us the following parameters of your laser, we'll do all the rest!

KD*P and KDP Harmonic Generators

CASIX has developed harmonic generators for Nd:YAG and Nd:YLF lasers by using KD*P and KDP crystals. The harmonic generators include frequency-doubler (532 nm output), -tripler (355 nm output) and -quadrupler (266 nm output). The doublers and triplers are made of KD*P crystals and the quadruplers are made of KDP crystals.

Fig-40.GIF (9914 bytes)The harmonic generator is constructed by crystal, AR-coated windows and sealed housing which is filled with Nitrogen gas as shown in Fig. 40. The outline diameter of harmonic generators is 38 mm, and the length depends on the crystals and applications. The standard clear apertures include 8x8 mm2 (or f8 mm), 10x10 mm2 (or f10 mm) and 12x12 mm2 (or f12mm). Other size and clear apertures are available upon request.

BBO, KTP and LBO Harmonic Generators

Fig-41.GIF (10623 bytes)CASIX has developed a series of harmonic generators by using BBO, KTP and LBO crystals. As demonstrated in Fig. 41, when pumped by a Nd:YAG laser at 1064 nm, the HG2-4-5 Harmonic Generator simultaneously generates SHG (532 nm), 4HG (266 nm) and 5HG (213 nm) by using KTP for SHG and BBO for 4HG and 5HG. The harmonic generations (532, 266 and 213 nm) can be obtained separately by rotating the dispersion prism (DP).

CASIX provides harmonic generators upon customers' specific requirements. The following models are available:

  1. HG2-3: two crystals are used to generate SHG and THG simultaneously.
  2. HG2-4: two crystals are used to generate SHG and 4HG simultaneously.
  3. HG2-3-4: three crystals are used to generate SHG, THG and 4HG simultaneously.
  4. HG2-4-5: three crystals are used to generate SHG, 4HG and 5HG simultaneously.
  5. HG2, HG3, HG4 and HG5: one crystal is used to generate SHG (HG2), THG (HG3), 4HG (HG4) and 5HG (HG5). The crystal is sealed in a housing as demonstrated in Fig.40.
